Step up for STEPtember

 In Features, Public Relations

Think taking 10,000 steps a day is easy? Some would say it’s definitely not! But did you know 10,000 steps is only 5 miles? On average people generally take 2,000 steps a day, meaning move more during the day and your cardio workout will be shorter (just kidding you should be getting AT LEAST 30 minutes in a day to keep your heart healthy).
So why are we taking so many steps each day you ask?  It’s because we’re involved with STEPtember and you can join too! The annual fundraiser, to support United Cerebral Palsy of Nevada, is about setting goals and doing your best to achieve them. But it’s not just about taking 10,000 steps and making sure you’re moving. You’re challenged to eat healthy foods, drink plenty of water (6-8 ounces of water is the daily recommendation) and encourage your friends and family to do the same!
Here at Argentum Partners we have started a company-wide fitness challenge where we document our steps, workouts and healthy meals. This is as easy as creating a private group on Facebook to post pictures. Want to keep it interesting? Create a point system for pictures and keep track of who posts what, then offer a reward at the end of the month! While this is a fun way to keep track of your progress, make sure to also log your steps on your team’s STEPtember page.

Through the use of various programs, United Cerebral Palsy of Nevada has made it their mission to create “life without limits for people with disabilities.” Nationally, UCP serves more than 176,000 people on a daily basis. Despite the name, more than 65 percent of people served by UCP have disabilities other than cerebral palsy such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, traumatic brain injury, Down Syndrome and more.

Join us on Wednesday, September 20 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Virginia Lake for a Work Walk. Bring your coworkers and get your daily steps in!
