Conquering Battle of the Rattle

As September winds down, and we get ready to wave goodby to the Argentum Fitness Challenge and STEPtember, the Argentum team is strapping on their running shoes for one last workout before the end of the month. Once again we will be running in the Battle of the Rattle, a 5k race that travels up the face of the iconic Rattlesnake mountain. We continue to sponsor this wonderful event because proceeds from the race benefit the Nevada Diabetes Association.  We probably all know someone living with this difficult disease, and it is comforting to know that our contribution and participation in this race can make a difference in the lives of individuals battling diabetes. Another reason we are proud to sponsor this event is the event organizer, Johnno Lazetich.

I was very fortuitous to grow up with Johnno (we first met when we were 3 years old) and to have the privilege of calling him my friend. I learned so much from him and his family, and still strive to live each day with the passion he lives life. Johnno is as selfless as it gets, so it is no surprise that he dedicates his own time and money to make certain the Battle of the Rattle is successful year in and year out. Even though several weekend warriors, like myself, will run in the race, the race caters to our local high school athletes. I anticipate watching several of them whisk past me on the climb up Rattlesnake. Wish us luck, and maybe we will see you running up Rattlesnake next year.
